17 days in...
We started this project on January 1. Well, actually, my hubby started this project on January 1!!! It's always tough to do big projects when you just have weekends to work on it, and of course he can't work on all of them because I work nights and sleep during the day... and I work my fair share of weekends! The is as far as the demo has progressed. We still need to remove the shower base and the medicine cabinet. My hubby has spent the afternoon gathering supplies like tile, grout, a toilet, sheet rock and cement board. I'm hoping that this all starts looking like a bathroom soon! We have family coming into town in a couple of weeks and I would love to have at least a sink and toilet to use... I'm not getting my hopes up because I happen to be working next weekend...

And so we begin a new project...
Welcome to our bathroom... our master bath to be exact! It actually isn't very "master" in size or appearance, but we hope to change the appearance for the better!! These are the before pics. As you can see, not only is the bathroom extremely hideous, it will not come clean either. I can't tell you how many times I have scrubbed that shower floor, only to be disappointed that it's still stained! The shower has recently sprung a leak into our kitchen (our new kitchen, that is) so we thought it would be appropriate to do the bathroom next, since we will have to fix that plumbing anyway! The vanity is fairly new and is the only thing that will find it's way back into this bathroom. I have gray slate tile picked out for the floor and white subway tile picked out for the shower. The toilet also won't come entirely clean, so we're replacing it too!

Finally Finished
It's official. My kitchen is finally finished. I'm pretty sure that when we began this long journey 7 months and 19 days ago, I never thought it would take this long. I absolutely love the end result and would definitely say it was worth it. I'm not sure Travis would say the same, but he did a great job. All I have left to do is a little decorating. The walls are bare, but I'm sure in time I'll find something to fill them up with! That just means more shopping for me!
This is my final post on the kitchen. Not to worry, though. We have many other home improvement projects that are patiently waiting on us. I'll keep you posted!

Curtains and Grout
Now I'm working on making a roman shade for over the sink. In the process, I found a new use for the peninsula... craft station!!! It is the perfect height for standing, scratch resistant and cleans up well. Now I don't have to stoop over the table and worry about scratching it!!!

Finally a Backsplash
The backsplash is up. It's not grouted yet. We still have a little painting to do, some trim at the top and the kick plates under the sink cabinets. There will also be pendant lights over the peninsula! We're getting so close!
The dining room isn't much different other than the floor, paint color and a new rug. We will be ordering new chairs and curtains for the back door soon. Still looking for something for the wall!

Update
Here's the small, much-needed update that you all have been begging for. Really, things are not moving along very quickly because the next thing to do is pick out my tile for my backsplash. We initially got several samples of red tiles in and decided that we wanted to go with something more neutral. These are the two most recent samples. The one on the right is winning my vote. It is clear glass with green/brown streaks through it. I think it will give a fresh, airy look to the kitchen. Let me know what you think!
This is my faucet. I love it! The nozzle comes off and is a sprayer! After 3 years without a sprayer, I'm loving it!
This is a pic of my new area rug that goes under my table. It is dark brown with greens, caramels and blue-grays! It is a large pattern...the little black thing at the top of the pic is my table leg.
We still need to pick out pendant lights for over the counter and some of the soffit is still not covered. I'm continually shopping for accessories/curtains/etc. to get it all finished. It would totally help if we weren't such picky people! We have picked out our chairs!!! That was quite a chore, but have settled on something that we think we will both love.
